Fietsbieb offers a discount on membership to children (users) who are entitled to supplemented refunds. In that case, a user pays €10 per year for membership instead of €30. The €20 deposit remains unchanged. The discount is granted in the child's name. This discount also applies when you renew your membership online. If you are no longer entitled to supplemented refunds, please let Fietsbieb know so that they can cancel the discount. This discount cannot be combined with other discounts.
Note: If the Fietsbieb where you are or will become a member uses UiTPAS and you have a UiTPAS with a reduced rate, we recommend that you use it because it is cheaper than the discount with supplemented refunds.
Supplemented refunds
People on low incomes in Belgium are entitled to the supplemented refunds. This system is intended to make healthcare costs more accessible and to ease the financial burden. If you are entitled to supplemented refunds, this may still be visible on your health insurance sticker. If there is still a code on your health insurance sticker, you are entitled to supplemented refunds if the code at the bottom of the sticker ends with the number 1.
If there is no code on your sticker, you must request a certificate for supplemented refunds from your health insurance fund.
There are two ways to prove to Fietsbieb that you are entitled to supplemented refunds and therefore eligible for this discount: on site at Fietsbieb or online in advance.
1. At the Fietsbieb
Bring a sticker from your child's health insurance fund (or a certificate of supplemented refunds mentioning the child) to the Fietsbieb when you come to borrow a bicycle. A Fietsbieb volunteer will check the sticker or certificate from the health insurance fund and approve the discount.
2. Online in advance
Before you come to the Fietsbieb, you can register online. This does not commit you to anything and it is not possible/necessary to make a payment. This way, you can make your entitlement to supplemented refunds clear without having to show the sticker or certificate from the health insurance fund at the Fietsbieb itself.
Click on the button “Membership” on this website (www.fietsbieb.be), then click Register Online. Once you have registered as a member (= parent/guardian), you can add a user (user = child). When registering a user, you have the option of uploading a photo or scan of the sticker or certificate from the health insurance fund.
Under “Upload sticker of the Health Insurance Fund”, select “yes”. A window will open where you can upload an image via “select file”.
After uploading the photo, click on “save”.
The discount will not apply immediately after uploading the sticker or certificate. A Fietsbieb employee will first check the sticker or certificate from the health insurance fund and approve the discount; only when this has been done will the discount apply.
When you have uploaded a sticker or certificate, you will receive an automatic email at the email address you provided. The relevant Fietsbieb will receive the same email so that they are aware that a health insurance sticker or certificate has been uploaded and that they can check it and approve the discount. This automatic email does not yet entitle you to the discount.
